Lakeland opens in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Lakeland has opened the doors to its first store in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the Mall of Dharhan in Dammam, Eastern Province.

Commenting on the launch, Lakeland’s marketing director Tony Preedy said: “We’re delighted to have opened our first store in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and we’re excited to welcome customers to our newest Lakeland store.

“While this is our first store in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we are looking forward to opening more in the near future and also to expanding our presence in the Middle East.”

The housewares chain has a nationwide high street presence from Aberdeen in the north to Truro in the south. The latest branch to open is Centre Court Shopping, Wimbledon, which began trading mid-May.

Lakeland’s 65th store – in Essex – is due to make its debut at the end of October. The 5,000sq ft outlet will be located near House of Fraser in the Intu Lakeside shopping centre at West Thurrock Way in Grays. Intu Lakeside, formerly Lakeside Shopping Centre, is a large out-of-town shopping centre.

Tony Preedy said: “We’ve had many, many requests from customers to open a store at Intu Lakeside, and we’re delighted that we will finally be able to do so, in time for Christmas.”

Eight stores now trade in the Middle East, with more to follow, while spring saw Lakeland’s first venture into Europe with the launch of www.lakeland.de.
