Kitchenware boosts first-quarter sales at Dunelm

An expanded kitchenware range at Dunelm contributed to a better-than-expected 2.1% rise in sales at stores open more than a year in the 13 weeks to October 2.
Analysts had predicted up to a 5% dip in sales owing to strong comparisons with the same period the previous year.

However, chief executive Will Adderley warned that Dunelm remained cautious about the UK consumer environment.

As well as growing its kitchenware offer, the homewares specialist has also extended the range of products sold under the Dorma brand, which now includes tableware, gift and bathroom lines.
