Kitchens spreads the love

February is packed with foodie events and celebrations at south-west cookshop chain Kitchens.

Kitchens spreads the love

For Valentine’s Day on February 14, the three stores at Cardiff, Bristol and Bath have stocked up with heart-related items for serving and creating food for the romantic event, from heart shaped cake tins, cookie cutters, casseroles, ramekins, porcelain dishes and chocolate moulds to Champagne glasses and even an ice cube tray.

National Chip Week runs from February 16 to February 22 – an event that Kitchens describes as ‘a great excuse to celebrate the British potato in all its glory’. It will be highlighting potato chippers, electric deep fat fryers and traditional chip pans in-store.

For Shrove Tuesday on February 17, a choice of crepe pans will be on show, along with wooden crepe spreaders, citrus presses and books containing ideas for fillings and toppings – while the Foodies Area has a recipe for Cinnamon Pancakes with Honey Glazed Bananas.

Next is Chinese New Year on February 19, with the focus on woks and cookbooks, followed by a Coffee Event on February 20 and February 21, with a 10% discount across coffee making equipment, available while stocks last. It applies to all full priced items (special offers excluded). The offer also applies online over the same two days. Customers in all stores will be invited to ”try before you buy’ by tasting the coffee produced from electric espresso machines, stove-top espresso makers, French press cafetières, the AeroPress coffee maker and more.

The Cardiff store will host a BioChef juicer demonstration on February 28. And there will be offers for the last two weeks of February such as a KitchenAid Artisan Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer 6.9L in Frosted Pearl, Candy Apple Medallion Silver or Empire Red for £799, a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer Chrome for £599 and a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Pink Charity for £449.

This will be followed by a celebration of St David’s Day on March 1. The team at the Cardiff store will be cooking Welsh cakes on a traditional griddle to share with customers in the week running up to the big day. Welsh-themed products will be available for St David’s Day parties, such as bakestones, ‘Bara’ Bins and slate cheese boards along with china and storage tins with labels in Welsh. On February 28 and in the week following St David’s Day there will be Welsh producers in the store too.

Finally, a competition is being held throughout February across all three stores to win Pyrex cookware. Each store has a £25 voucher to spend on Pyrex to give away to one lucky winner. No purchase is necessary; customers simply fill out an entry form to take part in the contest..
