Staff at housewares supplier Kenwood hosted a party at De’Longhi Group’s UK head office at Havant in Hampshire on Saturday September 14 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of children’s charity Over The Wall.
This national charity provides free residential activity camps across the UK for children aged 8-17 affected by serious illness and their families.
Havant MP Alan Mak attended the event, alongside members of the Over The Wall team, former campers and their families and volunteers, with members of the Kenwood team providing food, fun and games.
Kenwood recently named Over The Wall (which is also based in Havant), as its charity of the year, and has been raising funds to support it. During the party, Alan Cummings, the ‘Giving Something Back’ team sponsor at Kenwood, presented a cheque for £2,600 to the charity.
He said: “This event is a wonderful example of the joint benefits that our partnership brings, and we have enjoyed welcoming families and volunteers to Kenwood to celebrate this landmark anniversary.”
In addition to the party, Kenwood staff have volunteered at Over The Wall’s camps by unloading and unpacking lorry-loads of resources, medical supplies and equipment, and running activities with the children to create their own Kenwood products and mixer designs. Kenwood staff will also get involved in various other fundraising challenges throughout the year with a target to raise £10,000.
Over The Wall ceo Kevin Mathieson said: “Kenwood’s support has been fantastic, and we are truly honoured to be their chosen charity. This year is especially important as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. Since 1999 we have taken over 8,000 children to camps, so it’s wonderful that we can celebrate our achievements with Kenwood, whose support will allow even more children and families affected by childhood illness to enjoy our camps.”
