John Rocha takes the helm of ‘Designers At Debenhams’ apartment

‘Designer at Debenhams’ John Rocha has become ‘designer in residence’ at a luxury five-star apartment hotel in London.

Cheval Three Quays at the Tower of London has partnered with the department store group to give one of its 159 apartments a designer takeover.

In March, the retailer launched its designer open-plan apartment at Cheval Three Quays in a 12-month partnership with Cheval Residences, which sees the space changing four times during the year.

Fellow ‘Designer at Debenhams’ Ben de Lisi initially styled the apartment, followed by Matthew Williamson in June. John Rocha is the third designer in the Debenhams Designer Apartment range.

With an interior styled with the Autumn/Winter 16 collection of his ‘Designer at Debenhams’ collection, John has created a modern living space featuring grey, copper and neutral pieces to create ‘a luxurious living space in the heart of London’.

The two bedroom apartment features a clean-lined grey textured weave sofa along with table lamps to create ambient lighting.

Copper is featured with statement bowls for coffee tables as well as lamp bases with hammered effect to provide additional texture. The hammered effect is also carried through to a hurricane lamp and texturing on vases to add interest against the neutral colour palette.

Natural materials play a part in the space, with storage pieces including a square woven basket, and acacia wood lids on bread bins and storage jars in cream and soft grey.

The contemporary range sits within a space which boasts includes floor to ceiling windows with views across the River Thames and Tower Bridge.

John Rocha commented: “It was wonderful to dress the Cheval Three Quays apartment with my Autumn/Winter 20 16 homeware collection for Debenhams. It’s great to see everything working in one space, and I hope it allows all the guests to experience and understand my brand’s ethos. It’s so important to me that my fashion and homeware work together, making a real John Rocha experience.”

The apartment, with items hand-picked by John and styling directed by him, can be booked for one night or more until the end of November. A stay costs £125 per person, per night (based on four people sharing).

Every guest receives a luxury food hamper on arrival and gift on departure, plus beauty treats and restaurant vouchers to be redeemed in Debenhams’ flagship branch on London’s Oxford Street.

Debenhams trades out of more than 240 stores across 27 countries. It has been investing in British design for 21 years through its exclusive ‘Designers at Debenhams’ portfolio of brands.

Current designers include Abigail Ahern, Savannah Miller, Ted Baker, Jeff Banks, Jasper Conran, FrostFrench, Patrick Grant, Henry Holland, Betty Jackson, Ben de Lisi, Todd Lynn, Julien Macdonald, Jenny Packham, Stephen Jones, Preen, Giles Deacon Janet Reger, John Rocha, Ashley Thomas, Eric Van Peterson and Matthew Williamson.
