John Lewis set to open first pop-up shop

John Lewis will open its first pop-up shop in Exeter next month, giving customers a “sneak peek” of the products that will be sold in its first ‘flexible format’ department store, which opens in the Devon county town on October 12.
The 1,200sq ft pop-up shop, which launches on Exeter High Street on September 3 for six weeks, will carry an “edited assortment” of home products, along with fashion, beauty and consumer electronics. The homeware offer will include House, which is a new range of furniture, lighting, textiles, and cooking and dining accessories; and the new and exclusive JME range by Jamie Oliver.

The pop-up shop will also act as a Click and Collect hub, allowing shoppers to collect purchases ordered from the department store group’s website, johnlewis.com. Orders placed before 7pm can be collected after 2pm the following day.

John Lewis Exeter branch manager Kate Connock said: “The launch of the pop-up shop in Exeter underlines the excitement around the opening of our first department store in the city. It’s fantastic that we can bring John Lewis to the residents of Exeter a little bit earlier than anticipated, giving them a sneak peek at what we will have to offer when we open our doors on October 12.”

The John Lewis Exeter shop is the retailer’s first ‘flexible format’ department store with a full John Lewis assortment including home, fashion, beauty, consumer electronics, and nursery. With over 65,000sq ft of selling space spread over five floors, it will be the biggest John Lewis shop to open this year and the first to open in Devon and Cornwall.
