John Lewis sees a seasonal uplift

Trade so far this week has been much stronger than in the previous three weeks, with a noticeable uplift in Christmas gift purchasing, John Lewis said today.
“There’s also been a clear increase in big ticket purchases since the VAT reduction, which we had fully actioned by last Friday,” said director of selling operations Nat Wakely.

Amongst recent product highlights are turkey tins.

“We sold enough roasting trays last week to cook more than 6,000 kg of Christmas turkey,” said the retailer.
