John Lewis gears up for £45m distribution centre opening

John Lewis department stores’ Stevenage distribution centre will close next year following the opening of its new £45m automated centre in nearby Milton Keynes this May.
The new Magna Park centre will improve productivity, availability and customer service, says John Lewis, and will create a number of new jobs. All Stevenage staff are also being offered jobs at the new site.

The 650,000sq ft centre will incorporate an extensive range of eco-friendly enhancements, such as a rainwater harvesting system and a sustainable urban drainage system, which includes a lagoon to manage surface rainwater collection whilst also providing a natural habitat for wildlife.
