The service has been steadily rolling out across the country since Summer 2017 and coverage has now widened from London, Berkshire, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Milton Keynes into Hampshire, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and Kent.
Home Solutions allows customers to source and book trusted local trade professionals (such as landscapers, electricians, plumbers and heating engineers) for a variety of home improvement and maintenance jobs. All of the trade professionals that are recruited go through a five-stage vetting process which includes checks of their previous work by specialist John Lewis staff.
The department group said: ‘Home Solution’s rigorous five-stage vetting process, 12-month John Lewis guarantee on all workmanship and close working relationship with their trades carves a unique position for them in today’s trades market.’

Last month, John Lewis & Partners announced plans to bring its two home improvement services businesses – Home Solutions and Opun – together as part of its strategy to ’expand beyond shops and online into new and enhanced services’.
Opun, which manages large scale home improvement projects, was acquired by the John Lewis Partnership in June 2018 and has been operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Since the acquisition, Opun has been focusing on refining its business model, strengthening its team and developing its service technology.
