John Lewis collaborates with Denby on co-branded ceramic range

Available from this month, Quartz Rose is the new collection from John Lewis & Partners and British pottery Denby.

The collaboration marks the first time that the department store group has launched a co-branded ceramic range.

John Lewis & Partners tabletop buyer Nicola Hattersley commented: “I’m always proud when we work on our new ranges at John Lewis & Partners, which is why I’m particularly excited about our exclusive collaboration: John Lewis + Denby Quartz Rose.

“We have loved working in a partnership with Denby – bringing our two iconic British brands together, using our combined expertise to create a collection of plates, bowls, mugs, jugs and pots handcrafted with skill and care in Derbyshire and available only at John Lewis & Partners.”

Denby design director Richard Eaton added: “We’re thrilled to have been able to work with John Lewis & Partners on Quartz Rose, which is one of our most eclectic and exciting projects. John Lewis & Partners recognised the potential in some of our experimental design pieces on a visit to the studio and factory. Sharing the same passion for craftsmanship, together we’ve created a beautiful and striking collection that’s also really versatile.”

The retailer said: ‘The emergence of the trend for a warmer and more natural aesthetic is the influence for this new ceramic collection. In particular, the range draws inspiration from the tones and iridescent look of the quartz mineral, resulting in a multi-tonal rose palette including table setting pieces such as plates and bowls as well as jugs, storage jars and ramekins which work both in the kitchen and around the home.

‘From soft blush pink to terracotta and dusky grey, the glazes used reflect the layers of natural minerals found in quartz. We have worked intrinsically with Denby’s designer and artisan potters to produce a handcrafted range of stoneware that combines smooth finishes which contrast with textured shapes, highlighting the handcrafted process.’

Crafted from stoneware, Quartz Rose can be used straight from the oven or microwave and in the dishwasher and freezer too.
