John Lewis ‘At Home’ Ashford seeks local retail talent

A drive to recruit sales assistants and specialist advisers to work at the new John Lewis ‘at home’ Ashford started this week.

The retailer is on the hunt for around 125 staff to fill a variety of roles, including sales assistants, specialist advisers and catering professionals.

The shop, located on a site close to junction 9 of the M20 in Kent, is John Lewis’ tenth ‘at home’ and is due to open before the end of the year.

The ‘at home’ stores focus on housewares, furniture, furnishing accessories, electricals and home technology.

To allow customers to access and order a wider John Lewis assortment from johnlewis.com, customer online ordering points will be located throughout the shop and customers will also be able to use the free John Lewis Click and Collect service.

Glynis Gunning-Stevenson, branch manager of John Lewis ‘at home’ Ashford, said: “I’ve been with the John Lewis Partnership for over 10 years and have found it a really stimulating and rewarding environment to work in.

“As a business, we’re committed to recruiting locally and I’m confident that our recruitment team will select a strong group of individuals to help launch our ‘at home’ shop to the people of Ashford.””

The John Lewis Partnership operates 39 John Lewis shops across the UK (30 department stores and nine John Lewis at home), johnlewis.com, 291 Waitrose shops and waitrose.com. The business, which employs 84,700 staff, has annual gross sales of over £9.5bn.
