Housewares suppliers were in celebratory mood on Friday after being proclaimed winners in this year’s Industry Awards.
They picked up their Gold and Silver accolades at the prestigious Awards lunch held at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel. The event, now in its 21st year, exists to honour the very best new products within the housewares and small kitchen appliances industries and related home improvement industries of garden and DIY.
Housewares Awards are made within five distinct categories, each of which identifies several Silver winners and one overall Gold winner.
In the Cookware & Bakeware category Le Creuset walked away with Gold for its 3-Ply stainless steel cookware, while Silver went to Spode for Baking Days, WMF for its Bueno cookware and Dexam for the Chef’n Veggie Steam.
The Gold winner within Small Electricals was De’Longhi’s Lattisima Nespresso coffee maker. Honoured with Silver Awards were Cuisinart for the Ice Cream Station, Rival Products for the Crock Pot slow cooker and Magimix’s kettle.
Kitchenware saw Gold go to the ICTC Homegrown tote bag, while the Simplehuman Sensor soap pump, Hahn wall rack and Menu In2home folding trivet all gained Silver accolades.
Dexam took Gold in Tabletop for its Light My Fire Spork, and in this category the judges made four Silver Awards. Royal Worcester won for its Jamie At Home range, La Cafetiere for the Geisha tea set, Gilberts for its Tovolo corn picks and Le Creuset for its storage range.
Finally, the 2008 Awards presented a brand new category, Food Preparation, which saw Joseph Joseph walk away with Gold for its folding colander. Enjoying Silver success were Kuhn Rikon’s Colori paring knife, the DKB Culinare One Touch can opener and IO Shen Mastergrade paring knife.
