Philip and Kate Wyatt of Ilminster Home Hardware in Somerset are the winners of Home Hardware’s Retailer of the Year award.
The news was announced at Home Hardware’s convention on Saturday November 14. In choosing a winner, Home Hardware took into account a professional approach to retailing including promotions, store layout, staff training, customer care and overall commitment to Home Hardware.
David Adams, chairman of Home Hardware said: “I’m delighted that Ilminster Home Hardware won this award. Since buying the business in 2012, Philip and Kate have worked incredibly hard and this has resulted in their turnover increasing 60% in the last three years: a brilliant achievement in challenging retail times.”
Commenting on the win, Philip Wyatt said: “We are shocked and delighted. Having visited many other great Home Hardware stores, we feel very honoured to have been chosen to receive this award.
“The success of my current store in Ilminster is down to firstly, teamwork. All the staff and my family have played their part – whether it be buying, pricing, delivering, customer service or any other part of hardware life, we all work together to make it a strong independent family business. Secondly, it’s down to Home Hardware’s excellent stock availability, competitive pricing and great business support – especially the high quality brochures which we distribute six times a year, which keep our footfall high and tills ringing!”
Home Hardware is a dealer-owned wholesale distributor servicing independent retail stores across England.
