Hotel Chocolat opens European store

Luxury British chocolatier and cocoa grower Hotel Chocolat opened its first European store in Amsterdam on June 14.

Located in a traditional townhouse in the popular Heiligeweg Street area of the city, the branch features a ‘secret’ Coffee Vs Cocoa Bar in an oak-panelled room on the first floor, reached via a partially hidden staircase. The Bar serves the company’s new cocoa drinks that allow customers to choose to have their favourite daily espresso, latte or cappuccino made with either coffee or cocoa beans.

Hotel Chocolat CEO Angus Thirlwell said: “I’m incredibly excited about our European plans. The Dutch market is very similar to the British and so I feel we’ll fit in perfectly.”

The company has stores in major cities and market towns throughout the UK, concessions in John Lewis stores nationwide, franchises in the Channel Islands and stores in the USA.
