Sales for department store group John Lewis climbed 15.6% year-on-year to reach £99.5m last week (to January 9).
David Barford, director of selling, Group L & S at John Lewis, said: “We move towards the end of the trading year with strong performances across all of our channels. There was a good split of results across the week, with all days except one putting on double digit percentage gains.
“In shops, it was great to see a number hitting double digit percentage growth, with Heathrow, York, Swindon and Stratford City leading the way.”
Online shop sales were up 25.8%, with double digit percentage growth across all of the assortment areas.
At the directorate level EHT (Electricals & Home Technology) sales showed the way at 18.8% up year-on-year, while Home was up 13.3% year-on-year.
