Home Hardware reveals winners of Xmas window dressing competition

All Home Hardware retailers were invited to participate in the contest, which was judged by an independent panel who took into account window content, products featured, layout, use of props, use of point of sale material, lighting and overall maintenance of displays.

Two prizes were awarded. The first prize of £100 vouchers was scooped by Alan & Lynn Harris from Coulsdon Home Hardware (Coulsdon) while the second prize of £50 vouchers went to Terry Reeks from Just Home (Isle of Wight);

Beverley Wood, marketing manager of Home Hardware said: “The competition encourages retailers to make a special effort for the festive period. This helps add to the special ambience in the run-up to Christmas, and makes members’ stores more attractive and welcoming. Over the last few weeks we have seen retailers raising the bar and working hard to make their window displays highly attractive to the consumer.”

Alan Harris of Coulsdon Home Hardware commented: “We’re thrilled to have won the competition and would like to thank our staff for their hard work. We hope our windows will attract more visitors to Coulsdon during the crucial Christmas trading period. This is a fitting moment to celebrate 60 years of trading in Coulsdon.”

Home Hardware is dealer-owned and describes itself as the largest organisation of its kind in the UK, for independent hardware stores. The company has over 400 members including independent hardware retailers, housewares shops, cook shops, ironmongers and garden centres.
