Handover of Epicurean Cutting Surfaces distribution from Gilberts to Eddingtons

Following amicable discussions, agreement has been reached to transfer the sales and distribution of Epicurean Cutting Surfaces (previously marketed in the UK under the TopGourmet brand) from Gilberts to Eddingtons.

After spending more than a decade developing the TopGourmet brand of cutting surfaces in the UK, Gilberts managing director Richard Gilbert has acknowledged that this is the right time to concentrate on other brands. While not abandoning the retail side of the business, Gilberts will continue to strengthen its efforts in foodservice.

“Foodservice has always been at the heart of Gilberts. It’s where my grandparents and parents concentrated their efforts when the business was established over 60 years ago,” he said.

“Gilberts moved into the retail domain in the 1980s, with a plethora of TV shows such as BBC’s ‘Food & Drink’ and ‘Take 6 Cooks’ encouraging the public to demand better and more interesting tools and accessories in their kitchens.

“Ironically, the reverse is now happening, with retail trends having a major influence on the foodservice sector, especially with regards to front of house settings.

“Epicurean Cutting Surfaces has been an excellent partner to work with over the years and we wish it every success in further developing the Epicurean brand in the UK through Eddingtons.”

The handover will see Eddingtons take over all sales and distribution for retail partners from September 1 and for foodservice partners from January 1 2017.

The agreement will allow Eddingtons to showcase Epicurean Cutting Surface products at London trade show Exclusively Housewares in June.

Gilberts will showcase the latest additions to its existing product assortment, including the Genietti range, at Exclusively Housewares.
