Hailo, the German manufacturer of waste bins and ladders, has set up a wholly-owned operating subsidiary for the UK, Hailo UK.
The company is operating out of premises in Swansea, where its new general manager is Carlton Jones, who has worked with the brand for many years.
“We’ve had representation in the UK for some time,” said export director Andreas Roth, “but in order to maintain our competitiveness moving forward it made sense to have greater control and more of a say in how we bring our products to market. A closer understanding of the UK market will also improve the service we provide to our retailing partners.”
Exports represent 34% of Hailo’s business and the company currently sells to more than 60 countries. Its main markets include France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the Benelux countries, Russian and Ukraine, with other subsidiaries in the USA, France, Hungary, Czech Republic and China. Eighty per cent of all development and manufacturing takes place in Germany.
Along with ladders, Hailo produces metal waste bins for household, bathroom and office use, the range extending from functional all-rounders to on-trend design items.
