FAB Comm has been appointed as the UK PR representative for GreenPan, the pioneer of healthy, ceramic, non-stick PFAS-free cookware.
An overwhelming number of non-stick pans on the market are still made using PFAS which have been dubbed ‘forever chemicals’ as they are extremely durable and decompose very slowly,
taking as long as 1,000 years to do so.
Louise Sansom, Director of specialist food and housewares agency, FAB Comm, comments: “We will be working with our media, cook and chef contacts to highlight the benefits of GreenPan
cookware with the aim of generating positive comment to help consumers make safe, healthy cookware choices.”
In the industrial processes involved across all types of products, including cookware, harmful PFAS can end up in the environment. Once it reaches the kitchen and throughout its lifespan, traditional non-stick cookware like PTFE releases PFAS in the cooking process, particularly at high temperatures, where PTFE starts to decompose above 260°C, discharging toxic fumes.
These toxic fumes, along with PFAS in the food chain and water supply, are unnoticeable, and we ingest them every day without even knowing it. 99% of Europeans are calculated to have PFAS in
their bodies, with studies suggesting that if they reach a high enough concentration, they increase the likelihood of health problem. The health concerns surrounding PFAS are the driver to the EU
announcing a ban on ‘non-essential’ products that contain PFAS, which will come into force no later than 2025.
