‘Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip’ airs on Thursday

A new cookery series entitled ‘Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip’ kicks off on Thursday (October 11) at 9pm on ITV, starring celebrity cooks Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo and French maître d’hôtel Fred Sirieix, best known for appearing on Channel 4’s ‘First Dates’.

In the three-part series, the trio hit the road in a camper van and head off on a European adventure. Each episode takes viewers on a tour of the celebrities’ homelands.

In episode one, entitled ‘The Italian Job’, Gordon, Gino and Fred start their trip in Gino’s homeland of Italy, where Gino needs help to pull off an event that is close to his heart. His best friend’s vow renewal ceremony is taking place in front of 50 guests, in just four days’ time.

Gino collects Gordon and Fred from the harbour in a campervan to begin the journey. Yet despite the urgency of preparing a menu for the wedding, Gino insists the trio stop for lunch in his home town of Naples and takes them to the oldest pizzeria in town. Here, chef Gennaro bakes them his famous margherita pizza, using a slow-proofed dough to produce a lighter base.

The trio then head south to Sorrento to pick up some crates of limoncello – a must-have for any Italian wedding – from a lemon farm. Next, it’s time to prepare the mozzarella appetiser for the wedding and Gordon, Gino and Fred head to the Casolare Buffalo Farm. Gordon and Gino help milk the buffalo and they all assist with the process of turning the milk into cheese. The threesome then jump on a flight to Sardinia to finalise preparations for the wedding.

As the morning of the ceremony arrives, Fred manages the team of staff preparing the tables on the beach, while Gordon sweats it out in the kitchen. Gino prepares the suckling pig main course on an open fire and Gordon braises octopus for the starter. But as the guests take their seats, a power cut plunges the kitchen into darkness and the likelihood of the trio pulling off the event smoothly, begins to look doubtful…
