Godalming launches a British Bake Off

The first ever Godalming Great British Bake Off takes place at the Godalming Food Festival in Surrey today.
It’s a Godalming & District Chamber of Commerce initiative and lots of retailers, are involved,” says Tess Droy, owner of the Surrey town’s The Farmhouse Kitchen cookshop.

There are four entry categories – Best Traybake, Best Cake, Best Cupcakes and Best Biscuits/Cookies – and entries will be judged by special guest Dhruv Baker (MasterChef winner 2010). There were eight prizes to be won including tea for four and dinner for two at local establishments.

“It promises to be a great event in our Food Festival Day,” says Tess. During the day, cookery demonstrations by local professional chefs will be held outside Tess’ shop in Godalming’s Crown Court, with recipe cards available.
