Gleneagles takes over Bormioli Rocco distribution

Gleneagles of Edinburgh has strengthened its presence in the branded crystal and glass market by taking over UK retail distribution of Bormioli Rocco – the fourth largest glass producer in the world.

The brand is currently distributed in the UK by Chomette Dornberger. Gleneagles is planning a full launch of the range on September 1.

Bormioli Rocco UK managing director Andrew Broskom said: “We’ve been negotiating with a number of interested companies for the UK distribution of Bormioli Rocco and feel that Gleneagles of Edinburgh is the best equipped trading partner to take the brand forward in the retail UK market.”

The entire Bormioli Rocco range has recently been given new branding and new packaging to create a volume, mid-market range of quality crystal glass and soda lime glass at affordable prices. Retail prices will start at £19.99 for six stems.

The Gleneagles launch will include current designs Premium, Restaurant and Fiore and the new Symposium. The stemware offer will be supported by giftware and vases.

Gleneagles is also set to introduce UK presentation style boxing for the first quarter of 2009, and make the range accessible to independent retailers by dropping carriage-paid orders for Bormioli Rocco to £350 and allowing retailers to combine their orders with those of Gleneagles and RCR crystal.

Gleneagles managing director Paul Travis said the deal ensured that Gleneagles had “an offering to match anyone in the UK market, with great presentation and good customer service levels to the independent market.”
