Hollywood star George Clooney has returned to light up screens in the latest Nespresso advertising campaign, which also stars French actor Jean Dujardin.
The promotion, entitled ‘How Far’, made its debut in the UK on November 10 and runs until December 31. The 30-second spot appears on TV stations including ITV, Channel 4 and Sky TV and sports channels.
In the grounds of a villa on Lake Como in Italy, George Clooney is seen making himself an espresso. He comes across his friend Jean Dujardin, who is about to help himself to the last Nespresso capsule. George convinces Jean to give him the last capsule – but only by offering him something in exchange. As he is about to savour his favourite Volluto Grand Cru, a lady approaches him. George offers her the cup of espresso – only to realise that he has been tricked from the start.
A shorter TV advert, called ‘System Milk’, runs from November 24 to December 31 as a ‘tag’ to the advert but with the added feature of promoting the Lattissima+ Silver with its integrated milk function, and showing the roast and ground coffee inside the capsule.
For the first time ever, the TV advert was unveiled in Ireland, on major local TV stations including RTE, TV3 and Sky, supporting Nespresso’s objectives to grow awareness with the Irish consumer.
Nespresso has also invested in outdoor media (shopping malls and train stations), press and digital banners.
Guillaume Le Cunff, international marketing & strategy director of Nestlé Nespresso SA, said: “With the new ‘What Else?’ campaign we challenged ourselves to create a new and playful scenario with long-time brand ambassador George Clooney that viewers would enjoy watching and engaging with both on TV and online. This year we had the opportunity to also work with Jean Dujardin, which presented us with a unique dynamic for the TV commercial to show “How Far” both will go to enjoy that incomparable Nespresso moment.”
George Clooney commented: “I have been associated with Nespresso for many years and it’s fantastic that the ad campaigns continue to have such a positive reception. I was delighted to have the opportunity to work with Jean on this spot, even if he does get the better of me!”
Jean Dujardin added: “I enjoy the humour behind these Nespresso campaigns and had great fun working with George Clooney on the set of this latest episode. I enjoy Nespresso coffee and took particular pleasure in drinking a Grand Cru destined for George!”
