Five housewares retailers have reached the short list of the CHA (Cookshop & Housewares Association) Retailer of the Year Award.
They are Cheltenham Kitchener, of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire; Cook to Perfection, of King’s Lynn in Norfolk; Dinghams, of Salisbury in Wiltshire and Winchester in Hampshire; Kitchenalia, of Bedford in Bedfordshire; and south-west and Wales chain Kitchens, of Bath, Bristol and Cardiff.
The CHA is the national trade association for independent cookshop and housewares retailers in the UK. It is a specialist division of the British Independent Retailers Association (bira).
The winning business will be named at The Excellence in Housewares Awards 2012 ceremony on Wednesday October 3 at The Lancaster Hotel in London. Organised by Progressive Housewares magazine, this annual event shines the spotlight on both retailers for their retailing excellence as well as suppliers for their product innovation and service acumen.
During the ceremony, the winner of the Most Promising Newcomer Award will also be announced. The finalists for this category are La Casa, of Nottingham in Nottinghamshire (which opened in July 2011); Papylon in North London (April 2011); Stanger’s Cookshop, of Jesmond in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear (December 2010); The Creative Cookshop, of Wantage in Oxfordshire (April 2011); and Toast, of Okehampton in Devon (December 2011).
