Fenwick set to close Leicester branch

Department store group Fenwick announced plans yesterday (Thursday January 5) to close its Leicester store.

In a statement on its website, the retailer said: “We are sorry to announce the proposal to close our Leicester store. The store will remain open, and customers can continue to enjoy shopping there until further notice.

“All furniture, bed and carpet orders that have already been placed by customers will be fulfilled under our regular policy, and the Leicester store will be delighted to continue to accept orders until further notice. Fenwick Ltd will stand by any guarantee in relation to goods purchased in our Leicester store.

“It is our intention to launch a new ecommerce platform, which will enable all customers to continue shopping with us. All other Fenwick stores will continue to trade as usual.

“If you have any queries, please contact the Leicester store directly by phone: 0116 255 3322 or email: leicester.enquiries@fenwick.co.uk.”

The East Midlands store, on the city’s Market Street, offers homeware as well as furniture, beds, carpets, cosmetics, womenswear, menswear, accessories, handbags and luggage. Acquired by Fenwick in 1962, it is due to close on a provisional date of March 31.
