Cookshops should select staff not only for their skills but also for their ability to really live its company values.
That is the message in the latest article added to our Effective selling series, written by Bill Brown, for small retailers keen to ensure that their staff are better than their competition’s.
He says that, first and foremost, shops should be recruiting for a person’s attitude. He explains how to make the changes that might be necessary in the interview process, and how important it is for businesses to spell out their values beforehand.
Get it right, Brown believes, and they will find “people who will make a genuinely positive contribution to build your business brand and performance”.
