Launching today on HousewaresLive.net is a brand new series of articles written by former cookshop owner, now retail consultant, Bill Brown.

The articles, which you can find on our Effective selling page, are designed to help housewares retailers consider and implement ideas for developing and growing their businesses.
The series kicks off with a look at the people who work in a shop, who, says Brown, are the secret weapon of the small retailer. Choose people-friendly staff, train them well and then really look after them, and, he promises, they will reward the specialist cookshop with “a great competitive advantage”.
Brown has worked in retailing all his life, and was well known in the housewares industry as the owner of the award-winning, multi-channel Petersfield cookshop Armorica. He has now sold the shop and set up the Bright Perspectives consultancy from where he advises on a range of retail development issues.
Meanwhile, HousewaresLive.net’s series of Effective selling articles by Tony Everitt continues to grow, the latest taking a thought-provoking look at staff training – and providing some pointers on how and how not to write a job description.
