Eddingtons helped Gary Gordon, owner of the Kitchen Kapers cookshop chain, celebrate his 60th birthday at the most recent meeting of the Cook@Group.
Not only did the housewares supplier host a group dinner at the Michelin-starred Vineyard hotel and restaurant in Newbury, but owner and director Brian Rogers had a special cake made to mark the occasion.
It was presented to Gary Gordon – dubbed an “industry legend” by Eddingtons – by both Rogers and Richard Walker, Eddingtons’ managing director.
The Cook@Group consists of a dozen non-competing cookshop retailers who meet regularly to compare business and secure special deals with suppliers.
The main topic under discussion at the latest meeting was whether or not the group should continue to give full support to suppliers that sell goods direct to the end consumer, usually via their own websites. Singled out for particular attention were those that then go against their own recommended retail prices or offer special terms not available to the retailers they supply.
