Eddingtons expands Food Service Division by acquiring selected assets of Gilberts Food Equipment

Eddingtons has announced it has acquired selected assets including stock and IP from Gilberts Food Equipment with effect from March 13.

Additionally Richard Gilbert, the managing director of Gilberts, will join Eddingtons with immediate effect to head up its expanded Foodservice Division.

Gilberts was founded in the 1950s when the company began to import catering equipment and cookware from across the globe to meet the needs of both food service customers and consumers throughout the UK.

Commenting on this new chapter, Richard Gilbert said: “In challenging economic times there is real merit in pooling resources and I’m delighted to be joining the Eddingtons team who I’ve known personally for a number of years. I’m excited at the opportunity to head up an expanded foodservice business and look forward to continuing to work with our customers and suppliers. “

Roger Murphy, managing director of Eddingtons added: “We are delighted to welcome Richard on board and to have his experience and industry know-how spearhead our continued growth in foodservice”.
