Dualit debuts sealed coffee capsules

Housewares supplier Dualit has introduced a new sealed capsule design for its coffee collection, which is compatible with Dualit and Nespresso machines.

The British housewares manufacturer said the launch of its new patented, airtight, sealed coffee capsule design is in response to consumers’ preference for less packaging, as well as its own commitment to sustainability and minimising waste. After two years of development and over 300 days of testing, the hermetically sealed capsules benefit from a 60% reduction in packaging material.

Dualit said that in a 2014 survey of Nespresso owners, 84% stated they would prefer to purchase capsules at the same time as their groceries, ‘so to provide the ultimate in shopper convenience’. Dualit’s sealed capsule collection will be available from supermarkets as well as independent cookshops and www.dualit.com from October with prices starting from £2.90 for 10 sealed capsules.

Dualit’s Fairtrade coffee collection uses Arabica and Robusta beans selected by its expert Q Grader coffee tasters. Available in four aromatic blends, the coloured capsules are tightly sealed so they can be displayed at home in a capsule holder.

Dualit said it is currently the only UK brand to develop and produce its own capsules, investing over £1.5 million in its own capsule plant in West Sussex.
