Debenhams commercial director to address BHETA open forum

Steve Lightfoot, commercial director for Debenhams, will share a detailed strategic overview of the department store group’s plans to take its business forward in these challenging times when he addresses the next BHETA Housewares Open Forum.

Members of the British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) are invited to attend the event on November 1 at BHETA HQ located at Federation House in Birmingham.

Other major speakers include Derek Miller who is vice president, international, of the International Housewares Association (IHA), which is based in the States. He will provide a presentation on the US retail market and The International Home + Housewares Show, which is staged every year in Chicago by the IHA.

Finally, experts from leading trend forecaster WGSN will give an overview of future colour and fashion trends from 2013 to 2015. This follows on from a similar presentation organised by BHETA two years ago, which predicted current trends.

William Jones, BHETA’s housewares sector director, said: “Our last trends forecasting session proved very popular with members and was helpful in practice. So this is definitely something we will keep offering, alongside the opportunity to network with top retail buyers and strategists.”

He added: “We are delighted to have Steve Lightfoot joining us, enabling BHETA members to get to know Debenhams better. With some export content as well, this should be a very productive and stimulating session for all BHETA members.”

The forum will conclude with a general discussion followed by a networking lunch. All housewares and DIY BHETA members are welcome and booking details will shortly be available on the BHETA website www.bheta.co.uk or by telephoning member services at BHETA on 0121 237 1130.
