Datateam Media and Communications Group Limited (Datateam) recently announced the acquisition of media assets from Faversham House Limited.
The acquisition includes: ‘Housewares Magazine’, ‘DIY Week’, ‘Hardware & Garden Review’, ‘Builders Merchants Journal’, ‘ACR News’, ‘Heating & Ventilation Review’ and The ACR Show
These publications and events will now form part of Datateam’s Building Services and Home and Lifestyle divisions.
Datateam Publishing Director Hannah Dedman noted that the acquisition offers great opportunities for the some of the magazines to work together, thereby strengthening their already well known and highlyrespected brands.
She noted that “there is a fantastic synergy” between ‘Housewares Magazine’ and Datateam Magazine’s ‘IER’.
Datateam has rebranded IER with a new look and new title. Formerly ‘Independent Electrical Retailer’, IER will now be known as ‘Innovative Electrical Retailing’. IER prides itself on being the voice of the independent electrical retailer and celebrates its 25th anniversary issue at the end of this year.
“We are lookingforward to the future and will continue to have the strongest monthly trade presence for manufacturers to promote their products, technology and sales opportunities directly to the retailer,” Hannah said.
She continued: “The last three years have been extremely hard for the retailing sector and especially for the independents. There has been a big reduction in the number of independent electrical retailers left in the UK and as such, the magazine has a very small market with budgets restricted from the manufacturers.
“The name change and rebrand reflects the changes required to move forward in this ever-changing and fast-paced industry. Innovation is key for business to keep ahead in tough times and the way retailers sell their products is constantly changing.
“The change in the title allows us to look at other retailing opportunities for both manufacturers and retailers and allows us to continue to serve the independents.
“A dedicated ‘Independent Focus’ in every issue will still carry all the relevant news articles and features that our readers have always enjoyed. We are certainly not changing our commitment to the independents but are evolving with retailing opportunities as a whole.”
‘IER’ will continue to publish detailed features covering both consumer electronics and white goods. It will also be able to focus in more detail on small domestic appliances, joining forces with ‘Housewares Magazine’, which already covers these products in depth. ‘IER’ will also continue to promote sales training through the annual Sales Training Guide and the IER Business Book.
