Specialist electrical retail chain Currys & PC World has revealed its top 10 predictions for what will be the big sellers this Christmas.
Leading the list are three’wearable’ fitness technology products; the Samsung Gear Fit, followed by the Fitbit Force and the Garmin Forerunner 15. These gadgets enable the user to monitor, measure and track their progress.
Currys & PC World head of mobile computing and connectivity Rupert Nichols said: “Customers are focusing on their health and fitness more than ever before and portable technology is very much the future, as busy customers want to be able to do more things remotely and conveniently. We have seen a steady rise in sales of wearable technology, but we expect to sell a lot more units this Christmas, as everyone will want to trim up in the New Year.”
The healthy theme continues into housewares, with the chain revealing that the fitness trend has driven its juicer sales up 143% year-on-year. “Home juicing has surged in popularity and is expected to keep on growing, as the nation continues its health kick – immediately after the Christmas party season and beyond,” the retailer said.
The group forecasts that the NutriBullet high speed blender and juicer will take the number four spot on the top 10 list. Meanwhile, the KitchenAid stand mixer is ranked number eight by the company, which said: ‘The baking trend, driven in part by the popularity of BBC’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’, looks set to continue as baking proves as fashionable as ever.’
Currys & PC World category manager for small kitchen appliances Victoria Bennion added: “The rise in sales of juicers has been phenomenal and we expect this trend to continue. Home juicing and baking is something that anyone can do and these products will make the perfect gift for those who like to spend time in the kitchen.”
Other products in the top 10 list include the home audio Sonos Multi-Room System, Google Chromecast streaming dongle, GoPro action camera, Apple iPad Mini and Motorola Moto 360.
