Currys: heatwave sees race to buy ice cream makers, juicers and more

Currys & PC World has seen a huge surge in sales of summer-ready products as Brits embrace the sunshine.

On May 16, the electrical retailer reported a 59% rise in the sales of fans compared with the previous week, with ice cream makers up by 25%. It has also enjoyed week-on-week sales increases in juicers (up 80%), air-conditioning products (up 175%) and beer fridge sales (up 36%).

Jordan Byers, assistant category manager for refrigeration & seasonal at Currys & PC World, said: “Brits have been stocking up on fans and air conditioning units to keep cool and beer fridges have also seen a big increase in sales as everyone gets prepared for a weekend of barbecues in the garden.”
