Countdown to National Baking Week

National Baking Week is back in three months – and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Countdown to National Baking Week

The theme of this year’s event, which runs from October 15 to October 21, is ‘Let’s Get Britain Baking’. “Bake with your kids, bake with your friends, bake with your colleagues – whoever it may be, just get your pinny on and start experimenting, ” the organisers say.

Brands supporting National Baking Week 2012 include housewares names Pyrex and Kenwood, plus long life milk brand Just Milk, Allinson Flour, Billington’s Unrefined Cane Sugars, sugar brand Silver Spoon and soft tub margarine brand Stork.

Self-confessed ‘Manic Mummy Baker Extraordinaire’ Ruth Clemens, who was a finalist in the very first series of BBC2’s The Great British Bake Off, is also involved.

“It’s great to have the opportunity to work on really great projects like National Baking Week which is all about inspiring everyone to get baking,” she said.

A dedicated website at www.nationalbakingweek.co.uk includes “everything you need for inspiration, minus the ingredients” with recipe ideas, online games, hints and tips, teaching packs for schools and even a free downloadable pack to hosting a Bake Sale. This includes advice on organising the Sale and promoting it in the local press plus a poster, invitations, decorative bunting and pricing cards.
