Owned and organised by Brooke House Exhibitions on behalf of the British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA), the events will be held over two days – Tuesday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 14 – at the Business Design Centre in London.
This year they will play host to nearly 150 leading housewares and small electricals suppliers, representing over 400 brands between them.
Aimed at all types of housewares retailers, Exclusively Housewares celebrates its 16th birthday this year. In 2015, Exclusively Electrical was launched to run alongside. It retains the same format and style of Exclusively Housewares but is focused entirely on small kitchen appliances and domestic appliances (SKA and SDA). Visitors – who are limited to bona fide buyers of housewares – can move freely between the shows.
There will be a total of 125 exhibitors at Exclusively Housewares, with 16 new this year. These are: 2tech, Brewed by Hand, CIE Europe, Coravin Europe, EKO Utility (UK), ITALTRADE, Jersey Pottery, Kambukka bvba, Ladelle UK, Lavazza Coffee UK, LSA International, Original Clean 1886, PLAST1, Proplas 2008, What More UK and Zak Designs Europe.
For Exclusively Electrical, the tally is 22 exhibitors, with nine new this year. They are: ECOVACS Europe, Espresso Supply, Luba Distribution, Melitta UK, New Dawn Distribution, NSAuk, Pik-A-Pak Home Electrical,SMEG UK and Vybra Solutions.
They will be showing their wares alongside regulars Dualit, EPE International, Europasonic, Jura, KitchenAid, Magimix, RKW, Sage by Heston Blumenthal, SMART, Team UKI, Ultimate Products and Vitamix.
Another new introduction for 2017 is ‘Tomorrow’s Kitchen’. Located in the Atrium Gallery above Exclusively Electrical, this feature will host product demonstrations on day one of the shows (Tuesday, June 13).
The demo programme will be hosted by kitchenware expert Malcolm Harradine, who will oversee 11 presentations. The participating suppliers are: Aydya, Brewed by Hand, Rayware, Dualit, DKB, Luba Distribution, Coravin, Sistema, Gourmet Gadgetry, Vitamix and New Dawn Distribution.
A key attraction of the day will be a one-hour presentation by globally-acclaimed chef Ken Hom OBE, who will be cooking fusion food using his DKB range.
Tomorrow’s Kitchen will be transformed into a seminar zone on day two (Wednesday, June 14). Sponsored by BHETA, the seminar programme will be hosted by hosted by BHETA housewares sector director Will Jones and will comprise five presentations:
* Victoria Redshaw, lead futurist of trend forecasting consultancy Scarlet Opus, will discuss ‘how the kitchen of the future will become the technological hub of our homes’.
*Steve Collinge, managing director of consultancy Insight Retail Group, will talk about emerging technologies that he believes will ‘transform the housewares industry for ever’.
*Anthony Williams, UK and Ireland business group director of market researcher GfK, will ask: ‘Gadgets versus Gimmicks: what’s the reality for smart homes?’ He will identify trends and debate what a smart home could look like in the not so distant future.
*Mandy Saven, head of food, beverage & hospitality of research and advisory firm Stylus, will explore the ‘Kitchen of the Future’.
*Phil Pond, trend translator of Scarlet Opus, will highlight housewares and small electricals trends for Spring/Summer 2018.
Trends will be addressed on the show floor too. In an initiative sponsored by BHETA, Scarlet Opus will run 30-minute guided trend tours around the shows’ floors. These will highlight products that the trend forecaster feels epitomise key consumer and design trends in the housewares market. Four tours run on each day and places are booked on a first come, first served basis.
There will also be signage around the shows identifying products that characterise the trends noted by Scarlet Opus. The chosen products will be displayed together in an ‘On Trend’ area to give visitors an overview of each trend.
This area will include trend mood boards and an example of a merchandised Christmas window display, to illustrate how retailers can interpret the trends in their own stores.
Both shows will offer free refreshments, including tea and coffee from roving trollies (sponsored by Brita), and a two-course lunch.
