Cookshop sales up 18% at John Lewis

Total sales for John Lewis & Partners were up 4.8% last week (to Saturday September 28) on the same week last year, due to a ‘great customer response’ to the start of its 20% off promotional Home event, which continues until October 6.

The department store group’s customer director Craig Inglis said: “Home sales were up 16.8% with strong performances in a number of categories including Furniture, up 24%; Furniture Accessories, up 23%; Cookshop, up 18%; Lighting, up 29%; and Gifts and Candles, up 14.3%.

“Electrical and Home Technology sales were up 4.5% driven by a combination of Apple product sales and strong sales of televisions.’

“Fashion sales were down 4.2%. However, Women’s Accessories were up 0.3% and we had our biggest week for sales of umbrellas in four years due to last week’s wet weather.”
