Cookshop & Housewares Association comes of age

The Cookshop & Housewares Association (CHA) has been supporting independent cookshop and housewares retailers for 21 years and will be celebrating its birthday in style at the Autumn Fair in September.

Along with a piece of birthday cake, guests of the CHA and visitors to the CHA Village in Hall 3 (stand F31) will be invited to test out their unique code in one of three safes, which could unlock a prize. The codes will be given out in exchange for business cards on the stand, as well as sent out to members in advance of the show.

Users of bira direct will have access to multiple offers from bira direct suppliers in the CHA Village. Bira direct uses the combined purchasing power of over 7,000 members of bira (British Independent Retailers Association, of which CHA is a division), to negotiate better buying terms for them.

CHA chair Joan Woulfe, managing director of The Marvellous Group, said: “There’s no better place to celebrate our 21st birthday, as it was in a room at Autumn Fair that the CHA was born.

“The retail landscape is changing and who knows what our businesses will look like in another 21 years? But members can be assured that we will continue to offer vital support and services that make a real difference to their bottom line. We promise to support independents through these changes and keep our high streets alive.”

A special birthday celebration will take place in conjunction with the CHA @ Autumn Fair Awards on Monday September 7, which honour the best products at the show, as chosen by a panel of independent retailers.

Joan said: “We will be looking out for the best products in a number of categories, from most innovative to best new product at show. It’s always exciting to see new products that suppliers bring to Autumn Fair and to predict what we think will do well this year.”

The Autumn Fair will be held at the NEC in Birmingham from September 6-9.
