Following a sales surge driven by home-related products, John Lewis says its Christmas season is on track.

The department store group says that last week’s sales were up by 11.5% week-on-week. Throughout the country, John Lewis branches reported substantially increased sales in beds, bedding, towels and home-related products in general, while sales of Christmas trees and decorations reached unprecedented levels for this time of year.
The retailer took £76.93m last week, which is not only 11.5% up on the previous week, but also 6.8% up on the same week last year.
JohnLewis.com also had another very strong week, with a 30% increase on last year.
Meanwhile, Waitrose, the other arm of the John Lewis Partnership, enjoyed a year-on-year uplift of 10% last week, largely driven by its Delia Smith and Heston Blumenthal advertising campaign.
