The Gloucestershire-based kitchen knives, cutlery and home accessories designer and supplier Robert Welch has opened an office in Chicago.
The company says the move will allow it to develop its service to the growing list of retailers that carry its products in the US. These include the prestigious Macy’s, Crate & Barrel and Bloomingdales stores.
Alice Welch, the company’s designs director, said: “The Robert Welch mission has always been to combine a search for innovation with a sincere respect for the traditions of the past so that quality, ease of use and fine design are in harmony.
“We believe that the discerning US market will appreciate our highly-original products offering integrity of function and value for money for customers.”
Products supplied to the US market include the Signature range of kitchen knives, winner of multiple awards. These include an International Forum Design award, the Good Design award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, a Red Dot design award and, last week, an accolade in the Housewares Design Awards in New York.
Leading the Chicago office team will be Mark Follett and Danielle Follett.
