Channel 4’s Bake Off seeks contestants

The hunt is on for amateur bakers to take part in the eighth series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.

Channel 4 will become the new home of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ in 2017 after signing a new three-year agreement with the producer of the hit show, Love Productions.

You must be aged 16 or above on January 1 2017 and you must be a resident of the UK (including Isle of Man and Channel Islands).

You must not have any catering NVQ and/or any other qualification in baking, cooking, food production, food preparation or catering, unless acquired over 10 years ago.

And you cannot have ever worked full-time as a baker, cook or chef: you must be an amateur baker, meaning your main source of income must not derive from commercial baking or cooking in a professional environment.

Finally, you must be able to commit to all the filming days required for the programme. You must also be able to commit to the filming days for ‘The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice’ (working title). In both cases, the dates will be confirmed to successful applications.

The first ‘Bake Off’ programming planned to broadcast on Channel 4 will be a celebrity version of the show in 2017, in aid of Stand Up to Cancer. Love Productions creative director Richard McKerrow, commented; “We believe we’ve found the perfect new home for ‘Bake Off’.
