Calling all sociable foodies with a conscience!

A brand new website called GiveADinnerParty.com has launched in the UK, offering a way for like-minded people in local communities to connect while sharing their passion for food – and raising money for charity.

Foodies can either host or attend an event in their local area – be it a dinner party in someone’s home, drinks and nibbles, afternoon tea or even a picnic in the park. Events are listed on the site and members can buy tickets, with a minimum of 50% of the proceeds going to the host’s nominated charity.

GiveADinnerParty.com currently works with 50 of the largest charities in the UK.

Mark Viegas, founder of GiveADinnerParty.com said: “Inspired by our own experiences when moving to a new area, we created GiveADinnerParty.com as a fun solution for those looking to expand their friendship base.

“Through the age-old method of meal sharing, we’re looking to bring back the basic principles of community. We look forward to seeing people sign up to host events and make memories.”

Users sign up for free using their email address and a password, or via Facebook/Twitter, and decide they want to host or attend an event.

Attendees search for an event – using filters to select location and host preferences including age, interests and languages spoken – and then buy a ticket for the event of their choice.

Hosts pick a date and location, select a menu and ticket price and choose which charity will benefit
