Bunnings Warehouse opens tenth store

Home improvement and garden retailer Bunnings Warehouse officially opened its tenth store. at Harlow in Essex. last Wednesday (November 1).

The 78,000sq ft branch, which is on the site of the former Homebase on Edinburgh Way, offers customers more than 30,000 products. Other services include paint mixing, key cutting, timber cutting, a garden centre, indoor play area, café and in-store DIY workshops.

To celebrate the opening, retired England footballer Wayne Bridge joined a welcome breakfast for team members: 25 new full and part-time have been roles created, taking the staff total to 76.

The store will hosted a weekends of events on November 4-5 and will follow this with another on November 11-12, where customers can enjoy a range of family activities including the famous Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, face-painting, balloon modelling and even join Peppa Pig & George for a story time session.

Bunnings is a leading retailer of home improvement and outdoor living products in Australia and New Zealand. Operating from a network of large warehouse stores, smaller format stores, trade centres and frame and truss sites, it caters for consumer and commercial customers.

Last February Bunnings acquired DIY chain Homebase for £340 million. It plans to invest a further £500 million in building the Bunnings Warehouse business in the UK and Ireland over the next three to five years.

Harlow joins nine other stores: Worle (which opened on October 25), Basildon (October 10), Sittingbourne (September 27), Broadstairs (September 10), Folkestone (July 25), Milton Keynes (June 29), Hemel Hempstead (June 18), St Albans – Hatfield Road (April 12) and St Albans – Griffiths Way (February 2).
