Brits splash out as temperatures soar

Retailer Argos saw sales of seasonal products rocket last week, as customers sought goods to cool down in the heatwave.

In-store sales of family paddling pools were up by 548%, children’s pools were boosted by 421% and fans rose by 400% week-on-week.

Searches on also climbed. Popular search terms included BBQ (up 161%), Lawnmower (up 92%), Fan (up 351%), Pool (up 299%) and Trampoline (up 66%).

Argos outdoor toys & games buyer Lauren Graham said: “It’s no surprise that our customers are snapping up seasonal products to make the most of the wonderful weather we’re having.

“And thanks to our Fast Track delivery service, you can get what you want and enjoy it today with same-day deliveries on orders placed before 6pm.”
