Brand new Jamie Oliver cookery TV series airs on Monday

Celebrity cook Jamie Oliver is returning to the small screen with a new eight-part series.

‘Jamie’s Quick & Easy Food’ starts on Monday (August 21) at 8pm on Channel 4.

The broadcaster said that in each 30-minute episode, Jamie will present ‘the ultimate set of go-to recipes, using just five ingredients. Everything is quick to make and easy to remember’.

In episode one, Jamie kicks off with seared scallops with black pudding, ‘speedy spuds’ and peas. There’s also rib-eye steak; flat breads and mango chutney; and Jamie’s almond pastry puff.

A tie-in cookbook has been published by Penguin entitled ‘5 Ingredients – Quick & Easy Food’. Jamie said: “To say I’m excited about this new book, and the TV show that goes with it, is an understatement.

“Creating and filming ‘Quick & Easy Food’ has been a revelation for me. It’s clear, fast-paced and just full of great ideas.

“Sometimes the simplest things are the best. I can’t believe it’s taken me 20 years to work out that just focusing on five ingredients, killer combinations and technique can give you some of the most exciting cooking ever.

“And I have to say, I think this is my most approachable book and TV show yet – not just for beginners, but for great cooks too. No matter how experienced we are, being reminded to stick to fewer ingredients and let simplicity and deliciousness sing out is a wonderful thing!”

“For me, this is about getting back to basics and empowering everyone to enjoy cooking from scratch, whatever the occasion.”
