Black + Blum starts new decade with new products

Housewares supplier Black + Blum has announced the launch of three new product ranges, designed to meet the needs of the modern-day consumer.

The new Glass Lunch Bowl and Lunch Pot range (pictured) brings ‘a totally unique approach to the food on-the-go sector’, according to the company. It adds that the products are ‘the first lightweight, leak-proof and drop-safe glass products on the market. The glass bowl or pot is contained within a protective wood-fibre base container. A silicone lid on the bowl or pot, complete with steam vent, means food can be easily reheated in the microwave once at work. The stainless-steel screw-top lid ensures the whole combo is fully leak-proof in transit’. 750ml, 600ml and 450ml sizes are available in both Almond and Slate colours with retail prices ranging from £22.95 to £29.95.

Continuing with the glass theme, new Glass Water Bottles have been designed for a better drinking experience with the screw thread on the inside of the glass, and the lid made of stainless steel inside and out. The bottles come with a non-slip silicone sleeve and a carry loop. They are available in seven different colours, with the Almond coloured sleeve made of a combination of TPE and wood-fibre. The bottles have a 600ml capacity and retail at £19.95.

Black + Blum’s first entry into the food and drink on-the-go market was in 2010 with the Box Appetit Lunch Box and Lunch Pot products. It claims to be the first brand to bring bespoke solutions for lunch on-the-go to adults. These products have continued to sell well over the last 10 years, but new improved versions are now being launched.

The Lunch Box Original has an increased capacity (now 1 litre), upgraded clips and is fully leak-proof. It still contains a leak-proof sauce pot and an additional storage box to keep foods separated. The box comes complete with stainless-steel fork and retails at £19.95.

The Lunch Pot Original, consisting of two water-tight pots that can be locked together for carrying, has also been upgraded. It now features a bigger capacity large pot (600ml), an easier to assemble silicone carry handle and a stainless steel ‘spork’. It also retails at £19.95 and, like the Lunch Box Original, is available in Ocean or Olive colours.

Nick Cornwell, managing director of Black + Blum, commented: “2020 sees the start of our launching the first of many new designs that were identified as part of the company’s new strategy laid down in 2018. Our design team has been working hard to develop innovative products that meet our exceptionally high design standards as well as respond to the current consumer trends. The tide is turning against single-use plastic, meaning that quality products in our category are becoming top sellers for more and more retailers.”

Dan Black, co-founder and lead designer of Black + Blum, added: “It’s gratifying to see such a positive consumer response to our brand and products. By upgrading some old favourites as well as bringing innovative solutions to the category, particularly with the new glass ranges, I’m sure that our eco-oriented and design-focused approach will appeal to more and more consumers in the future.”

All the new products will be available in the UK by March and will be showcased at the forthcoming trade shows Top Drawer in London and Ambiente in Frankfurt.
