More than 140 housewares brands exhibited at Spring Fair International 2014 within the ‘Kitchen, Dining & Housewares’ section, located in Hall 1 of the NEC in Birmingham.
Organiser i2i Events Group claims the exhibition offered “the largest presentation of kitchen, dining and housewares products available under one roof anywhere in the UK”.
Key names at the event, which took place from February 2-6, included Creative Tops, EPE International, Royal Crown Derby, T&G Woodware, Sabichi, Eddingtons, Moorcroft, Denby and Addis Housewares, which returned to the Spring Fair after a seven-year absence.
Brand new to the show for 2014 was Belgian housewares brand Berghoff. This represented the first time that this brand has been present at a UK exhibition, with the Spring Fair showcase timed to coincide with the opening of a UK division.
Paula Leggett, marketing manager for Berghoff, said: “Berghoff is a well-known brand that’s already sold throughout 61 countries and we used the Spring Fair to launch it to the UK market for the first time. We had a really positive reception to the products and I’m impressed by how good it was. There was a good mix of independent and major retailers coming onto the stand showing interest.”
Other first time exhibitors and international companies that used the Spring Fair as their UK retail launch platform included Europasonic (UK) (which brought along celebrity duo the Hairy Bikers to help launch its new Hairy Bikers kitchenware range), Metaltex (UK), Charles Viancin UK, Mercante and Lekue.
Also located within Kitchen, Dining & Housewares for the first time was one of the five UK Trade & Industry (UKTI) Villages making their debut at Spring Fair 2014. i2i Events Group has forged a strengthened partnership agreement with UKTI, designed to inspire and support UK-based SMEs in their efforts to succeed in overseas markets.
The Cook Live! kitchen theatre – which has been an integral feature within Kitchen, Dining & Housewares for the past four years – returned to the show with a new format, new logo and new summer fete themed setting. It also featured product placement from Spring Fair exhibitors for the first time in 2014, providing additional visual interest for buyers who came to enjoy the interactive demonstrations from celebrity chefs such as Ken Hom (with DKB) and Edd Kimber (with JWP) and Mich Turner from Little Venice Cake Company.
