BHETA welcomes a preview from Argos

Some 50 members of from the housewares sector of the British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) were treated to an insightful and informative presentation from Huw Crwys-Williams, senior trading director at Argos, at the BHETA Housewares Forum on September 24 in Birmingham.

Responsible for leading the trading functions across the homeware, furniture and core electrical categories, as well as for the development and repositioning of Argos as an omni-channel retailer for the digital age, Huw discussed the history of the brand and its current trading position with special reference to housewares and SDAs. Delegates were also able to see previews of concept stores and strategies for the future of different categories and brand versus own-label.

Other speakers included Sarah Selzer from PR Direct who talked about consumer PR; a team from i2i Events Group – organiser of the Autumn Fair and Spring Fair- which discussed both events; and David Beech from BrandView: a price and promotions intelligence tool which enables retailers and manufacturers to monitor their brand or product’s day to day performance in online retail.

BHETA home enhancement sector director Will Jones explained: “This was a very successful event with some really top quality speakers on highly relevant topics for BHETA members. I’m delighted to confirm that we will be following this up with one of our tried and tested Meet The Buyer events with Argos in the New Year.”
