BHETA to hold Meet The Buyer day with TK Maxx

The British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) is to host a Meet The Buyer retail networking day with homewares and clothing retailer TK Maxx.

The event will take place on January 30 at the Mercure Hotel in the Hertfordshire town of Watford, which is on the A41 Watford bypass.

TK Maxx buyers from the kitchenware, dining & tabletop, cookshop, utility, laundry & cleaning and bathroom accessories categories will be present. Participating companies will be allocated a 20-minute appointment time with a maximum of two people from each supplier allowed to attend.

BHETA said: ‘The TK Maxx buying team is looking for great deals to start the year and is urging suppliers to concentrate on the features and benefits of key products. TK Maxx is keen to see ideas from across the buying categories, including picnic, BBQ and barware, reusable and recyclable products, and small electricals, as well as anything to do with food preparation, cooking and serving, laundry, cleaning, storage and bathroom.’

TK Maxx is a subsidiary of the US clothing and home goods giant TJX Companies and operates 515 stores in Europe. Founded in 1976, its first UK store opened in Bristol in 1994. Created as a budget retail concept, but featuring well-known brands, it has latterly moved into a large department store format with a wider product range. Its ecommerce site launched in 2009.

Commenting on the forthcoming event, BHETA chief operating officer Will Jones said: “We’re delighted to be providing members with a great opportunity to schedule face-to-face meetings with TK Maxx. It has a growing share of the housewares sector and prides itself on being an ‘easy to deal with’ business partner.

“Potential suppliers should note that TK Maxx will collect everything and doesn’t have set terms, so the agreed price is the price. It is also open to annual deals in addition to spot buys.

“This event is sure to attract a big response and there will be a limit to the number of people that can be accommodated on the day. Interested participants are therefore urged to make themselves known to Helen Farnell in BHETA Member Services team as soon as possible, so that we can confirm arrangements.”

The event is open to BHETA members and non-members and the cost of attendance starts at £99+VAT for members. Application forms can be found on the BHETA website at www.bheta.co.uk or by contacting Helen on 0121 237 1130 or hf@bheta.co.uk.
