John Newcomb, president of British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA), as well as commercial director of Imperial International, has been recruited to the role of managing director for the Builders Merchant Federation with effect from August 1.
John has been an active member of BHETA for 15 years and has held senior level marketing and MD roles with suppliers including H&R Johnson, Sandvik Saws & Tools UK and Addis Group.
Commenting on John Newcomb’s appointment, BMF chairman Terry Parker said: “Whilst not working for a merchant, John has worked for several companies who trade in our sector. More importantly, his background of senior commercial roles in a related industry, and his membership and recent presidency of BHETA, brings both understanding and expertise to the role that can only benefit BMF going forward.”
Builders Merchant Federation is based in London and has over 300 members with a
combined turnover of more than £10 billion.
John Newcomb said: “I’m joining BMF at a challenging time and I look forward to making a meaningful contribution. While I will miss the housewares industry, I don’t see the merchant sector as a radical departure. And, with my past experience I am looking to bring a fresh pair of eyes to the role.”
